J. Farrell MacDonald

American character actor and occasional director, born in 1875. A reliable supporting player across hundreds of films, he appeared frequently for John Ford, including in Kentucky Pride (1925) and The Iron Horse (1924). Ford often cast him as gruff but warmhearted figures. He continued acting into the late 1940s. He died in 1952.
