Austrian-born American film actor, director, and producer (1886-1946) who directed Charlie Chaplin's first two films, Making a Living (1914) and Kid Auto Races at Venice (1914), at Keystone Studios. Lehrman was a protégé of Mack Sennett and directed many early Keystone comedies. He was also involved in the early career of Fatty Arbuckle and was engaged to actress Virginia Rappe at the time of her death.
