Geraldine Farrar

American soprano and one of the Metropolitan Opera's biggest stars in the early 1900s. Born in 1882, she made her film debut in Cecil B. DeMille's Carmen (1915), becoming one of the first opera singers to cross over into cinema. Her screen presence made her a fan favorite and she appeared in over a dozen silent films before retiring from both opera and film in the early 1920s. She died in 1967.
