George Murphy

American film actor and politician, born in 1902. A song-and-dance man who starred in musicals of the 1930s and 1940s including This Is the Army (1943) opposite Ronald Reagan. He later served as a U.S. Senator from California from 1965 to 1971. He died in 1992.
