Fred Newmeyer

American film director and actor (1888-1967) who directed many of Harold Lloyd's most famous comedies, including A Sailor-Made Man (1921), Among Those Present (1921), and the iconic Safety Last! (1923). Newmeyer began his career as an actor in Hal Roach comedies before transitioning to directing, and he was a key collaborator in Lloyd's golden period at the Roach studio.
