American film actor and comedian, born in 1891. A vaudeville star who transitioned to early sound films, he appeared in Bright Lights (1930, retitled Adventures in Africa) opposite Dorothy Mackaill. He was married to Barbara Stanwyck from 1928 to 1935. He died in 1961.
