Fannie Ward

American stage and film actress, born in 1872. A Broadway comedienne who transitioned to silent film in her forties, she became a star in Cecil B. DeMille's The Cheat (1915) and a string of social melodramas for Lasky-Paramount. She was known for playing glamorous, wealthy women in peril, often decades older than the characters she portrayed. She retired from film in 1921. She died in 1952.
