Edward S. Curtis

American photographer and ethnographer whose life's work was documenting the Native American peoples of the western United States. His 20-volume The North American Indian (1907-1930) is a landmark of ethnographic photography. He directed the feature film In the Land of the Head Hunters (1914), the first feature-length film with an entirely Indigenous cast.
