American singer, actor, and comedian born in 1926. Mitchell performed as half of the comedy and music duo Mitchell and Petrillo with Sammy Petrillo, an act modeled closely on Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. The team starred in Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla (1952), playing themselves. Mitchell later worked as a lounge entertainer and director; his unfinished crime film The Executioner was completed and released posthumously as Massacre Mafia Style (1974).
