Duane Jones

American actor who played Ben in Night of the Living Dead (1968). His casting as the lead in a horror film was significant because he was a Black man in a role that did not specify race in the script. He was a teacher and stage actor before the film. He appeared in a few other films but never pursued a full acting career. He died in 1988.
