Dick Miller

American character actor whose face is familiar to generations of film fans even when his name is not. Born in 1928, Miller appeared in hundreds of roles across a six-decade career, often playing gruff waiters, cops, and shopkeepers. He is best known for his longtime collaboration with Roger Corman, who gave him his only lead role as Walter Paisley in A Bucket of Blood (1959). The character name "Walter Paisley" recurred in several later films as an in-joke. Miller later became a favorite of directors Joe Dante and James Cameron, with small but memorable parts in Gremlins, The Terminator, and The 'Burbs.
