American psychic and television personality (1907-1982) known for his outlandish predictions, many of which were famously wrong. He appeared as himself in Ed Wood's Night of the Ghouls (1959) and Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959), delivering his trademark cryptic narration. His syndicated newspaper column "Criswell Predicts" and appearances on The Tonight Show made him a minor celebrity in the 1950s and 1960s.
