Cornel Wilde

American film actor and director, born in 1912. A Hungarian-born leading man who became an Oscar nominee for A Song to Remember (1945), he starred in film noir classics including The Big Combo (1955) and later directed and produced his own films, most notably The Naked Prey (1966). He died in 1989.
