Constance Talmadge

American silent film actress, born in 1898. One of three acting Talmadge sisters, she became a major star of the late 1910s and 1920s, equally adept at comedy and drama. She played the Mountain Girl and Marguerite of Valois in D.W. Griffith's Intolerance (1916), a dual turn that launched her to stardom. She retired from the screen with the coming of sound. She died in 1973.
