English actor, one of the icons of horror cinema. He played Dracula in seven Hammer films from 1958 to 1973, Frankenstein's creature in The Curse of Frankenstein (1957), and a long string of villains across a career spanning more than six decades. His later roles included Saruman in The Lord of the Rings and Count Dooku in Star Wars. He died in 2015.
