Charles Ogle

American stage and silent film actor (1865-1940) who played the first screen Frankenstein's monster in Edison's Frankenstein (1910). Ogle's portrayal, achieved largely through his own improvised makeup, established the visual template for cinematic monsters. He appeared in numerous Edison shorts before returning to the stage.
