Bedridden and convinced he's dying, George Jones (Barry Sullivan) becomes certain his wife Ellen (Loretta Young) and his doctor are planning to murder him — so he writes the district attorney a letter accusing them. Then he drops dead, and the letter is already in the mail. Ellen's desperate afternoon chasing a single envelope through a sunlit suburb makes for one of the tightest domestic noirs of the early 50s. Sci-Fi
A 1956 unaired television pilot directed by Duke Goldstone, intended as a spin-off of the 1954 film Tobor the Great. Tobor ("robot" spelled backwards) is a nine-foot-tall robot controlled telepathically by Tommy Adams, a boy genius with one of the highest ESP quotients ever recorded. In the pilot episode "Tobor and the Atomic Submarine," Professor Adams and Tobor help the U.S. Navy find a missing nuclear submarine. Tobor flies in a rocket, recovers the submarine, and fights a gang of pirates. The series was not picked up, and only the pilot was filmed. The credits famously read "Tobor played by Tobor."
