Bessie Love

American film actress, born in 1898. A star of the silent era who successfully made the jump to sound, she earned an Academy Award nomination for The Broadway Melody (1929). Born in Texas and raised in Los Angeles, she was working as a teenager when D.W. Griffith put her in films. She later moved to Britain and continued a stage and screen career there for decades.
