Canadian-born American actress, born in 1907. She began in silent films at Universal and moved to MGM, where she played the ingenue in Flesh and the Devil (1926) opposite John Gilbert and Greta Garbo. She made a few early sound pictures before retiring from the screen in the mid-1930s. She lived a long private life afterward. She died in 1996.
