Anthony Mann

American film director, born in 1906. He made his name with hard-edged film noirs in the late 1940s, including Railroaded! and T-Men, before becoming one of the great directors of the western with films like Winchester '73 (1950) and The Man from Laramie (1955). He took over much of the direction of He Walked by Night (1948) uncredited.
