American film actress, born 1910. A popular MGM star of the early sound era, she played Queenie Mahoney in The Broadway Melody (1929) and appeared in The Hollywood Revue of 1929. Her career peaked almost as fast as it began; she retired from the screen in the mid-1930s and returned decades later for a handful of late-career roles.
