Alexander Granach

German actor who played the real estate agent Knock in Nosferatu (1922). Born in Galicia, he was a prominent stage actor in Berlin and worked with Max Reinhardt. He fled Germany in 1933 when the Nazis came to power and eventually settled in the United States, where he appeared in several Hollywood films including Ninotchka (1939). He died in 1945.
