American comedian born in 1901, the eldest of the Ritz Brothers comedy trio. With his brothers Harry and Jimmy, he performed a slapstick act in vaudeville and films, including The Gorilla (1939). The Ritz Brothers appeared together in more than a dozen films in the 1930s and 1940s.
