Anna Neagle stars as Sunny O'Sullivan, the equestrian star of a small circus, in this RKO adaptation of the Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II stage musical. During Mardi Gras in New Orleans she falls for Larry Warren, heir to the wealthy and snobbish Warren family, and must choose between love and her life under the big top. Ray Bolger, two years past The Wizard of Oz, leads the circus troupe and dances a memorable number. British producer-director Herbert Wilcox brought his wife Neagle to Hollywood for this and a handful of other RKO vehicles. The film entered the public domain because its copyright was not renewed.
