Vitaphone Corporation

American sound film technology company, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. that pioneered synchronized sound for motion pictures. The Vitaphone system, which used sound-on-disc technology, was used for early Warner Bros. talkies and the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons produced by Harman-Ising and Leon Schlesinger in the early 1930s.
