Technicolor Motion Picture Corporation

American color film company founded in 1914 by Herbert Kalmus, Daniel Comstock, and W. Burton Wescott. Technicolor developed the dominant color motion picture processes of the 20th century. Its early two-strip system, which recorded red and green onto separate strips and printed them together, was used for The Black Pirate (1926), one of the first feature films shot entirely in color. The later three-strip process, introduced in the 1930s, became the industry standard for decades.
