American film production company operated by the actress Alla Nazimova in partnership with Metro Pictures in the early 1920s. Given unusual creative and financial control for a woman of the period, Nazimova produced art-minded features through the unit, including Salomé (1923), an adaptation of Oscar Wilde's play designed by Natacha Rambova. The unit was short-lived; after a string of costly pictures that underperformed, Nazimova left her Metro contract and returned to the stage.
