Mutual Film Corporation

American film production and distribution company that operated from 1912 to 1918. Mutual produced and distributed short comedies, including Charlie Chaplin's films for the company in 1916 and 1917. Chaplin made 12 two-reelers for Mutual, including The Rink (1916), at a salary of 670,000 dollars a year, which made him one of the highest-paid people in the world at the time. The company was later absorbed into other studios.
