Independent Productions Corporation

American independent film production company formed in the early 1950s by blacklisted filmmakers Herbert J. Biberman, Paul Jarrico, and Michael Wilson. The company produced Salt of the Earth (1954), a landmark independent film about a mining strike, made entirely outside the Hollywood studio system after its creators were blacklisted during the McCarthy era.
