British film production company founded in 1934 and best known for its Gothic horror films of the 1950s through the 1970s. Hammer revived the classic monster cycle in full color with The Curse of Frankenstein (1957) and Dracula (1958), starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. The studio's later films include The Satanic Rites of Dracula (1973), the last of its Dracula series to feature Lee.
