GPO Film Unit

The film unit of the British General Post Office, formed in 1933 from the Empire Marketing Board's film unit under John Grierson. It produced the classics of the British documentary movement, including Song of Ceylon (1934) and Night Mail (1936), before becoming the Crown Film Unit during World War II.
