Cosmopolitan Productions

American film production company, founded in 1918 by newspaper publisher William Randolph Hearst. Originally a unit of Paramount and later of MGM, it produced films primarily as vehicles for Hearst's companion, actress Marion Davies. The unit also produced prestige dramas such as The Big House (1930), directed by George Hill. It operated through the 1930s before being wound down.
