AIP specialized in low-budget genre films aimed at teenagers and drive-in audiences, including horror, science fiction, and beach-party pictures. The company was a key outlet for Roger Corman, distributing and producing many of his films, including The Little Shop of Horrors (1960) and A Bucket of Blood (1959). AIP was absorbed into Filmways in 1980 and later became part of Orion Pictures.
